Jim Pasternak, Director
JIM PASTERNAK, director of CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN, directed the comedy feature, ONE HELL OF A GUY. His short films, IN A TRAIN STATION and THE WAYFARER, were featured at the Whitney Museum in NYC. He paid his producing dues as assistant to Otto Preminger and as an associate producer at ABC-TV on the documentary series, THE SAGA OF WESTERN MAN. He wrote the production draft of COUSINS for Joel Schumacher, and his screenplay, LIGHTNING BENDER, was selected for the Sundance June Lab, where he directed scenes from the script.
Jim has a B.S. in theater from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. in film from UCLA. He has taught film directing at The New School, Pratt University, The School of Visual Arts, Hofstra University, and currently at the Los Angeles Film School. He and his partner, Richard Marshall, formed FilmDada, through which they are in pre-production on a number of film and television projects.
Richard Marshall, Producer, Director of Photography
RICHARD MARSHALL is producer, director of photography and editor of CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN. He co-produced and shot the PBS television documentary DRAWING FIRE, about political cartoonist, Paul Conrad. Marshall wrote, designed and directed DA – PURSUIT OF JUSTICE, a four-hour liveaction interactive title, was also Creative Director on LAW & ORDER – DEAD ON THE MONEY, an interactive game, based on the hit television show. He has directed films for IBM, the SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE, the SMITHSONIAN AIR & SPACE MUSEUM and as well as documentaries for the MUSEUM OF MODERN ART as well as an hour-long documentary for PBS on the blacklisted Hollywood writer/director Abraham Polonsky.
He has directed commercials for clients including IBM, AMERICAN EXPRESS, NORELCO, U.S. MARINES, BURGER KING, PANASONIC, NISSAN and MTV, and produced and directed feature trailers and opening title sequences for every major studio, television and cable network. Marshall spent several years as a director at the Actors and Directors Lab, The Samuel Becket and Harold Clurman Theaters, two premiere off-Broadway theaters in NYC.

Matthew Fortnow, Producer
MATT FORTNOW, executive producer and co-producer of CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN, is a former music attorney, has lectured internationally on the subjects of copyright and the music industry, and is a contributing author of the 7th Edition of This Business of Music, the bible of the music industry. In 1996, he co-founded Commissioner.COM, the internet’s first fantasy sports service, which he sold to CBS SportsLine in 1999. Mr. Fortnow has since attended intensive programs at the New York Film Academy and debuted “Learned,” an award-winning short film that screened at several festivals. Mr. Fortnow is also an investor in independent films.
Kathy Fields Lander, Co-Executive Producer
KATHY FIELDS LANDER, co-executive producer of CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN, began her career as actress in feature films, stage and television. She co-starred in Richard Brooks’ THE HAPPY ENDING and Dalton Trumbo’s JOHNNY GOT
HIS GUN.
She was the second woman to become a member of the cinematographer’s union as a location still photographer. She worked on more than 20 major motion pictures including TOWERING INFERNO, THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING”, BOBBY DEERFIELD, ROBIN AND MARION. She also shot the opening credits montage for LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR starring Diane Keaton and Richard Gere. Kathy was a directing fellow at the American Film Institute. She also holds a Masters Degree in psychology and is a licensed therapist, with a private practice in Los Angeles. Along with screenwriting, she has established In Your Dreams Productions, teaming with successful independent producers and filmmakers. Kathy grew up in the film and television business. She is the daughter of legendary agent/producer, Freddie Fields (CMA, ICM founder) and actress Polly Bergen, the wife of David Lander (Squiggy of LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY) and mother of Natalie Lander, 26 year old singer, dancer, actress and comedienne.
Buddy Judge, Composer
BUDDY JUDGE composed and produced all music for CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN. He has been writing & performing music since age eleven and has been a film & television composer since 2001. Starting as a singer/songwriter and Multi-Instrumentalist, he has performed with, produced, and written music with many artists including Liz Phair, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, and The Wallflowers. He was a member of The Grays, with Jon Brion and Jason Falkner. Buddy produced songs for Aimee’s critically acclaimed record “Bachelor #2”, many of which were used prominently in Paul Thomas
Anderson’s “Magnolia”.
His first score was for ACCORDING TO SPENCER, an independent romantic comedy starring Jesse Bradford, David Krumholtz, Adam Goldberg, and Giovanni Ribisi. The eclectic score blended hip-hop rhythms, acoustic guitars, and classic romantic melodies and string arrangements. FUNNY OLD GUYS, a bittersweet HBO documentary about a weekly meeting of octogenarian ex-comedy writers, offered a score that moved from farcical to serious and contained elements ranging from 60’s TV themes to Klezmer. He wrote and produced songs as well as composed the score for the documentary film SIR, NO SIR!” about the G.I. Movement, that won the audience award at the 2005 L.A. Film Festival and was nominated for a 2006 Independent Spirit Award.
Robert Pergament, Co-Editor
ROBERT PERGAMENT is co-editor of CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN. Robert spent years as assistanat editor on films for Sam Penckinpah, John Cassavetes, Clint Eastwood, Elaine May, Randal Kleiser and Blake Edwards. As as editor, he has cut a number of films for Blake Edwards, including A FINE MESS, BLIND DATE, SUNSET, SKIN DEEP, PETER GUNN, SWITCH, and SON OF THE PINK PANTHER. Robert has also edited several dozen independent feature length and short films.
CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN is Robert’s first experience working on a documentary.
